Polyurethane coating is a type of floor covering that can be used for all kinds of concrete and steel floors exposed to heavy loads and chemical effects, has a wear-resistant, smooth surface, hygienic and easy to clean. Polyurethane is basically a synthetic polymer. Compared to epoxy coating, although it has both advantages and disadvantages, the most important feature that distinguishes it from epoxy is that the polyurethane coating has a flexible structure when desired. Polyurethane flooring, which has different types, has a self-leveling feature and can be applied as matte or glossy, as well as have an antistatic structure.
How is Polyurethane Coating Made?
The polyurethane flooring process consists of several steps.
1. Soil Analysis
First of all, the floor to be applied should be analyzed and if it is a suitable floor for polyurethane, then the floor should be neutralized and cleaned of all kinds of dust, dirt and roughness. Recesses and protrusions on the surface, if any, should be smoothed out. Before applying polyurethane to the cleaned floor, it should be ensured that it is completely dry.
2. Primer Process
In the following stage, Primer is applied to the floor. With the primer coat, which is an effective adhesive, both the floor becomes stronger and the polyurethane becomes adhered to the floor.
3. Mezzanine Application
After the priming process, intermediate coat is applied. The mezzanine application can be in different sizes depending on the type of floor and the need. It is possible to fill the necessary areas of the floor and to make the floor flat by removing the roughness with the intermediate layer. In addition, with the mezzanine layer, both insulation and flexibility properties are gained to the floor.
4. Polyurethane Application
In the last stage, the polyurethane material is applied to the floor. It is the stage where a flat and smooth relativity is brought to the ground. Depending on the demand, the final layer can be applied in matte or glossy colors. This hygienic and antibacterial layer is also resistant to heavy loads and impacts. Depending on the type of floor area (Garage, Shopping Mall, etc.) following the final stage, line and pattern operations are carried out for orientation, stimulation or aesthetic purposes.
What are the Usage Areas of Polyurethane?
Polyurethane epoxy floor covering is a type of coating that can be applied to different floors such as concrete, metal and aluminum, which has chemical resistance and does not easily come off from the area where it is applied. This product can be used for both protection and isolation. Other usage areas of the product are as listed.
1. Production areas such as warehouses, hangars and factories
2. Schools, hospitals and operating rooms
3. Fairs and show centers
4. Shopping malls
5. Cafes and restaurants
6. Hotels
7. Chemical and plastic production areas
8. Workshops
9. Sports fields
